Statement of Admission Policy


Schools of the Diocese of Lake Charles


The Diocese of Lake Charles, the Diocesan School Board, and the Diocesan Office of Catholic Schools reiterate their policy of non-discrimination in admissions to the Catholic Schools in the Diocese of Lake Charles.  Our Lady's Cathololic School does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, sex, national or ethnic origin in its educatinal programs, activities, or employment policies.


 

Admission Priorities:

The principal reserves the right to refuse admission to any student, whether presently enrolled or under consideration for admission from another school.

Priority Listing for Admission:

During the official Diocesan registration period, students may be accepted based on the approval of the principal and according to the following order of priority.

1.  Presently enrolled at Our Lady's Catholic School.
2.  Children who have older siblings presently attending Our Lady's Catholic School.
3.  Catholic parishioners from the six owner parishes:  Our Lady of Prompt Succor, Immaculate Conception, Our Lady of LaSalette, St. Theresa, St. John Bosco, St. Joseph.

Age Requirements:

*  Pre-Kindergarten 4 year olds:  Must be four (4) years old on or before September 30th of the calendar year in which the school year begins.
*  Kindergarten:  Must be five (5) years old on or before September 30 of the calendar year in which the school year begins.
*  First Grade:  Must be six (6) years old on or before September 30 of the calendar year in which the school year begins.

 

The following documents must be presented at the time of "Application for Admission"

 


1.  State birth certificate - a copy to be kept by the school.
2.  Baptismal certificate (Catholics only)
3.  Immunization record (Health card)
4.  Official transcript of previous grades, test scores, and medical information.
5.  In the event of court ordered custody, the custodial parent/guardian will
    furnish a copy of the court order establishing custody.


Student Eligibilitly:


1.  Students educational needs and school history are considered in determining enrollment.
2.  Students who have been suspended or expelled from any school are not eligible for enrollment.
3.  Students who are under disciplinary action from any school are not eligible for enrollment.
4.  Information provided to the school is verified false, misleading information will be asked to leave.

 

Our Lady's Catholic School offers a Bishop Services Fund to those families who meet the criteria set by the Diocese of Lake Charles.  Come by the office to pick up your packet.
